How can I leave the black bars that keep appearing in my room when Im trying to film something on television?

I'm trying shoot a walktrough with my digital camera for recording directly to my TV and this is the only way to film something out of a TV. When the film the camera shows black bars that either appear on the bottom or the top! is quite annoying. Is this some kind of interference? Can anyone tell me how THX get rid of the bars?

I think what is happening is that the refresh rate of TV is a bit faster than that the film camera can capture what your updated TV. At least that's what I always thought it was. I think if you use an LCD or plasma TV should stop, but could be wrong. Hope this helps
